There were no crows to be found in downtown Andover on Saturday as the annual ACE Scarecrow Festival got underway and dozens of spindly, hay-stuffed characters were zip-tied to light posts, entertaining children and adults alike.
ACE, the Andover Coalition for Education, sold kits and sponsorships for the scarecrows, which were purchased by individuals, businesses and entire neighborhoods.
Jennifer Srivastava, ACE director, said about 150 people turned out on Saturday to learn more about ACE and ogle the scarecrows. A table was set up outside Old Town Hall, where volunteers handed out candy and told people about the scavenger hunt and the scarecrow auction.
