The spooky season has arrived and downtown Andover has the mood well covered.
Starting this Saturday, 80 scarecrows will be taking up residence along Main Street. The straw creations designed and crafted by local schoolchildren and other community groups will decorate the light and electric poles as part of the second annual Scarecrow Festival.
The festival is organized by the Andover Coalition for Education as a way of celebrating the local schools while bringing a festive fall excitement to the business district.
Shoppers and visitors to the downtown can expect to see twice as many scarecrows as last year, with each sponsored by an Andover business.
