AHS iLab created the opportunity to create the Smart Garden, a computer controlled hydroponic greenhouse. While over 20 students worked on the development of the smart garden over three semesters, 3 students were allowed to travel to China to represent the district and project.
In recognition of this work, APS is proud that the AHS innovation lab was awarded a gold medal at the 37th annual Beijing Youth Science Creation Competition at the University of the Chinese Academy of Science, in Beijing China, on Sunday 3/25, for their research and development on a food computer, aka the Smart Garden.
Under the leadership of Shelagh St. Laurent, AHS Digital Learning Specialist and Steve Chinosi, APS Director of Strategic Innovation, the team traveled to China for a week of competition and cultural exchanges.
