ACE partnered with the Doherty Middle School PAC and the Andona Society in 2007 to retrofit the old wood shop at Doherty into a new engineering and science laboratory that has paved the way for another 500 middle school students to enter the engineering curriculum. The model was based on the West Middle School engineering lab. At Doherty, engineering is one of the four Integrated Arts subjects, along with Art, Music and Health.
Recently, West Middle School’s engineering lab was recognized as a Promising Practices Program by Mass Insight Research and Education Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising student achievement.
