Overview
This fall, ACE committed to supporting the district’s goal of expanding experiential learning in social studies so that every student, in every grade, every year, will participate in civics and social studies-centered experiences that are embedded in the curriculum. In addition to the grade 4 fieldwork that included learning about the indigenous life of the Pennacook Abenaki people, the grant also supported:
Grade 5: Met Deborah Sampson, one of the only officially recognized female soldiers of the American Revolution
Grade 6-8: Speaker Series, Witnesses to History – Students were exposed to eyewitness testimony by living primary sources on historical events.
Grade 10: Modern World Studies: Immersive Experiential Learning Roadmap – Students participated in three programs throughout the year that complemented the curriculum in the course.
